Our Trip to the Zoo

My mom was here visiting with us during Labor Day weekend. While she was here we decided to go to the zoo on Monday. The crazy thing is that we forgot to take our camera with us! I was so upset at myself for forgetting such an important item! The only thing that made me forgive myself was the reminder that we do have a zoo membership, which means we'll be going to the zoo many times during the year. We will get lots of pictures, I'm sure. Unfortunately, we missed the opportunity to take pictures with my mom and the kids together.

Anyway, Ethan loved the zoo! He especially loved watching the elephants pick up things with their trunks! He can't wait to go back again! Elaina was such a good girl, as usual. She just laid in the stroller most of the time, not even realizing that she was missing all of the exciting animals. We were there from 10:45-2:30pm. It was pretty crowded, so we look forward to going when there are less people there. We packed sandwiches for our lunch, and we ate near the Giant Panda Exhibit. I was really proud of my mom for walking around with us. I know it is hard for her to be on her feet for that long, especially when it starts getting hot. We all had a good time, and we're glad we went.

Ethan and Elaina slept in the car on the ride home. Unfortunately, Ethan woke up when I tried to put him in his bed to finish his nap, and he didn't go back to sleep. Our friends, Jamie, Melanie, Jake & Grayson came over that evening to have hamburgers and hot dogs with us. It was good to spend time with them because they had been on vacation last week. We were due for some "hang out" time! Ethan and Jake had a good time playing together. We enjoyed their company!
